About Barker College

Located on Sydney’s North Shore, Barker College is an Anglican day and boarding school. Boarding offers a unique experience for students in Years 10 – 12 only.

The School will become fully coeducational by 2022. Places for girls are now available for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten in 2018, from Year 3 in 2019 and in Year 7 in 2020.

A Barker education is shaped by our focus on preparing for a life beyond the school gates. We seek to expose our students to diverse opportunities and experiences, so that they are able to develop resilience and adaptability within a supportive environment.

The Christian heritage of Barker is the inspiration for our values and purpose. We draw on the rich narrative of the life of Jesus yet welcome all traditions into our diverse community. The School’s culture is inclusive, innovative and full of hope for the future.

Barker has been located on its current 50 acre site since 1895 and successive generations of leaders and families have contributed to the beautiful campus we see today. Construction began on our new Prep School in the middle of 2017. This exciting development will bring the youngest members of the Barker community within the fold of the Junior School.

Flexible and engaging spaces will provide the Prep students with every opportunity to begin their Barker journey in the best possible learning environment. A state of the art, purpose designed and built Sports Complex will provide five court spaces, gym and exercise spaces, rooms for dance, general purpose teaching areas, a café, viewing platform and parking for over 150 cars, when completed by 2020.

At Barker we aim to provide a framework for young people to experience the best that the future offers – more than that, to become people who shape this future rather than merely people who consume it.
