Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is School Places?

School Places is Australia’s first ever marketplace that matches families looking for a private school enrolment with schools that have vacancies. Parents can contact School Places directly on 1300 727 027 or request a call back from a Customer Service Consultant to find a private school place for their child, often at prices significantly below the published tuition fee. For last minute vacancies, a short term discount is frequently applied ranging from 10% to 50% for between 1 and 6 years.

  2. How do I use School Places?

Finding a place for your child using School Places is quick, easy, and completely free. Simply contact School Places direct on 1300 727 027 or leave your details in the onsite enquiry form for a call back. A Customer Service Consultant will call to discuss your child’s needs and will then present you with options for the schools that have vacancies in the year level, intake year and region you’re looking for. You can then apply for one of the vacancies over the phone or request that the details be emailed so that you can consider the options before making a decision.

When you apply for a vacancy with School Places we hold the spot for you while you meet with the school. You are under no obligation to formally enrol while you decide if the school is the right fit for your child.

  3. Can I be sure that the place I apply for is really available?

Yes. Each place listed on School Places is placed on the website by the partner school itself. Often these places are in short supply though and will only be held for you for a very short time.

  4. Is there any urgency in me applying for a place?

It is very important that you apply for your child’s place as soon as possible. If a place listed on the website is claimed by another parent that place is no longer available for your child. Often these places are in short supply and if the partner school has only one place in your child’s year level your child will not be able to take up a place at that school at all.

  5. How do I know my child’s place is confirmed?

Completing an application form does not confirm your child’s place. Once you have completed this process you will receive a confirmation email detailing the next steps in the application process. You will still need to comply with the relevant partner school’s enrolment process which may include completion of various forms and attending an interview. Only when the partner school confirms your child’s acceptance is your child’s place confirmed.

  6. Why haven’t I received my confirmation email and how do I obtain a copy?

You will receive a confirmation email once you complete the application process to claim a vacancy. If you have not received your confirmation email, please check your “Junk Mail” folder and if it is not there please email info@schoolplaces.com.au

  7. What if I decide not to go ahead with the application?

At any time in the process if you decide that the school is not the right fit or that your child is not ready to move, you can withdraw your application or decline the school’s offer. Call us on 1300 727 027 with your details and we will notify the partner school of any changes.

We’ll do our best to find another option better suited to your child or we'll restart the process once you feel the time is right.

  8. Can I access School Places on my mobile?

You sure can! School Places is mobile formatted and can be used on all mobile phones and tablets.

  9. Is my privacy maintained?

The privacy of our customers is important to us. We have implemented strict privacy measures to ensure your details are not obtained by anyone who should not have them. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details.

  10. Why can't I use School Places more than once per child?

There are certain restrictions placed upon users of the School Places website to protect our partner schools. If a parent uses School Places to take up a discounted place at a partner school for their child, that child becomes ineligible to take advantage of any further discounted offers through School Places for the remainder of that child’s school lifecycle. We make allowances for certain situations such as families relocating.

  11. I’ve claimed a place for my child using School Places. When will the school contact me?

Once you have claimed a place on School Places your details will be passed directly on to the school. The school may contact you first, however it is your responsibility to follow up your application with the specific school. Detailed instructions are contained in your confirmation email.

The vacancy you have claimed will be released back into the School Places system if the school and School Places have not been able to contact you after several attempts.

  12. I’m interested in a specific school. Can School Places help me?

We’ll try our best! When discussing your needs with our Customer Service Consultant let them know which school your preference is. If they’re a School Places partner school and they haven’t yet loaded a vacancy that matches the year level and intake year you’re after, we’ll speak to them about potentially releasing one for you.

If your preferred school isn’t yet a School Places partner school, be sure to register your details so that we can alert you as soon as they come on board.

  13. What can I do if there are no vacancy options that match what I’m looking for?

Inventory in the School Places system is constantly changing as new schools come on board and additional vacancies are released by existing partner schools. Don’t despair if the vacancies loaded at this point in time don’t meet your needs, our Customer Service Consultant can register your details for you to receive an alert once additional spots become available.

  14. If I claim a discounted vacancy, what school fees do I have to pay once the discounted offer period expires?

At the conclusion of the discounted offer period the school’s fee will revert to the current full tuition fee.

  15. For discounted vacancies, can I negotiate the length of a particular offer?

School Places cannot increase the number of years for which a discounted place applies as the length of a particular offer is published on School Places directly by the partner school.
